It was bittersweet, or at least it was supposed to be. Yesterday I became a high school senior and from this point on will never experience what a “first day” feels like in high school again. The first day jitters, the rush to buy all your school supplies, and to see your friends after a long, long summer. What could be more exciting?
Except it really wasn’t all that. Mostly it was a day of sitting in familiar classrooms with familiar people and hearing very familiar lectures about class syllabi, rules and nervously strung jokes. First days become a little less exciting every year, since there’s been so many of them, and they’re all essentially the same.
But I guess it’s some kind of milestone.
I’m sorry for this disappointing blog post, but life is full of them. Disappointments, I mean.
